If you use cloth diapers then you probably know how detergent can build up and cause the diapers to smell. You can put a freshly laundered diaper on baby, and the second she pees it’s an awful ammonia smell. It took several uses before I noticed this problem with my baby’s diapers, so I searched the internet for what to do. I realized I had to start stripping the diapers. For those of you that don’t know, stripping is the process of removing buildup, minerals and detergent, from the diapers. One website on how to strip your cloth diapers- suggested using bleach. I didn’t like the idea of using bleach on my cloth diapers, and then putting those diapers on my baby’s bum. About this time I started checking out Mom blogs and saw some reviews of rockin’ green soap!
I’m so excited Rockin’ Green has allowed me to review their product! It is GREAT! For especially dirty or smelly diapers, rockin green suggests soaking them. I have an LG high efficiency (HE)washer , which doesn’t allow me to fill it up with water. I can push a “water plus” button, but only with certain wash cycles. So, I thought I’d soak my diapers (Rockin’ Green calls it, “Rockin’ a soak"!) in a bucket.
Yep, a bucket (I've also heard some people doing it in the bathtub...) I rocked a soak overnight of some of my daughter’s GroVia inserts. These seem to have more buildup than the Bum Genius pocket diapers I use. The next morning, I rinsed out the inserts with clean water, and threw them in the washer with the other diapers and washed them. I used the “Rage Against the Raspberries” scent, and it smells delicious, but not overpowering. The good thing about the scents is they are all natural and don’t leave the scent on the diapers. I always smell my diapers after they are finished washing, and before I throw them in the dryer. You KNOW they are clean when you smell nothing! I’ll be using Rockin’ Green for my cloth diapers from now on!
Rockin’ Green has great information on their website. You can even find your brand of front loader washer and see the best wash cycle for you to use with the detergent. Rockin' Green also has 3 formulas: Soft Rock, for soft water, Classic Rock and Hard Rock, for hard water. But, Rockin’ Green isn’t only for diapers. You can use it to clean jewelry, carpet, dish towels- really, almost anything you might use laundry detergent for, you can use Rockin’ Green in it’s place! I also love all the Rockin' Green lingo! Everything relates to Rock 'n Roll- what a fun company!
